How to Encrypt an email attachment Step 1: Begin by downloading & installing (below) our recommended file encryption software Androsa FileProtector for Windows users. INSTALLATION FILE: Step 2: Find the file that you would like encrypted and right click it. In the menu that appears, look for "Androsa FileProtector " and click it. Step 3: Androsa FileProtector will open and present this dialog box. Create a password (10 characters MINIMUM is recommended, with a mixture of special characters and numbers) and click "Advanced" tab. Note: The recepient of the email will need this password to access the file. If you would like to make sure your password is typed correctly, click the "Show Password" option. Step 4: Androsa FileProtector will display the"Advanced" options dialog box.
Check the "Create self-decrypting archive" checkbox.
Click the ellipses to select a location for the encryption file to be saved and Click "Create SFX".
Note: Androsa FileProtector has a built in compression option which may be used by checking the corresponding checkbox.
Step 5:
A self-decrypting file has now be created. This file can be attached to any email for secure delivery. The recepient of the email will need the password from step 3 to access the file. For maximum security, provide passwords to recipient via a one-on-one conversation and not email.
Alhtough the file is appears to only be zipped, it is actually securely encrytped inside of the zip file.
