How to Install and Set Up tn3270 for Apple Computers

1. Download the file tn3270.dmg from TN3270 version 3.1.4 for Macintosh system X. Save it to your Desktop.



2. Double click the .dmg file to mount a disk labeled tn3270 on your desktop.



3. Double click this disk image to open up a Finder window with the tn3270 program and related file. The folders labeled “tn3270 Documentation” and “tn3270 Customization” and the file “tn3270 release notes.rtf” are available for reference only. If you need to customize your installation of tn3270 further than this installation does, please refer to the documents in these folders.



4. Drag the file labeled “tn3270” into your Applications folder.



5. Double click the file named “TAMU Default Settings.” [fig. 5] Clicking this file will cause the program to be opened using setting which will cause the application to connect to tammvs1.tamu.edu using an SSL secure connection. This is the only time you will need to open the program this way.



6. A window will open up informing you that the document you are opening will open the application “tn3270 X” for the first time. Click on Open.



7. Once you have clicked “Open,” the tn3270 X application will open and you will be brought to an ATM screen. The lock in the lower right hand corner indicates that an SSL connection is being used to send information securely.



8. While this connection is opened, go to File and click on Save Default Settings.



9. This will open a small window with two options. Make sure that “Save host name” is checked. “Save window position” can be left checked or unchecked as you wish.



10. Once this has been done, the settings you are currently using will become the default settings. You can now open tn3270 X by clicking the tn3270 icon in your Applications folder.



11. When opening tn3270 X from your Applications window, you will be given a connection window. [fig. 11] In this window you will not need to adjust any settings, but simply click on the Open Connection button.
