CIS Resource Usage Statistics

Several different sub-systems are used by CIS customers in their daily operations at Texas A&M University. These sub-systems have all shown growth over the past 3 years, especially in the areas of number of customers accessing the systems, and the number of transactions completed by the systems. A transaction is the process of pressing ENTER on a keyboard and having the information requested displayed on the screen. Graphs are presented below which show the growth on each of these systems/applications:

CICS-BPP
CICS-SIMS
CICS-REG
CLAIM
FAMIS
other NATURAL applications
IMS-BPP

The graphs for application data are updated by the tenth day of the month at bi-monthly intervals.
  • Last update: February 14, 2007
The graphs for Total number of transactions for all Strategic Applications and CPU Utilization for the OS390 system are also updated by the tenth day of the month (on alternate months to the application data). The graphs are available at: TOTAL, and CPU
  • Last update: February 6, 2007

To view a list of the strategic applications and the sub-systems that support these applications, please see this link: Application Definitions

CICS-SIMS

The CICS-SIMS sub-system supports the SIMS application for the Admissions and Records Department in addition to general SIMS access.

CICS-REG

The CICS-REG sub-system supports the SIMS Telephone Registration application. The sub-system also supports the terminal registration process in the Pavilion during the 5 day period preceding the first day of class.

CLAIM (formally ACCESS)

The CLAIM sub-system supports the CLAIM allocation and account management sub-system.

FAMIS

In March 2002, the FAMIS application was moved from the CICS-NATURAL sub-system to a dedicated CICS sub-system.

In March 2002, the FAMIS application was moved from the CICS-NATURAL sub-system to a dedicated CICS sub-system. The number of transactions completed and the number of customers using the NATURAL sub-system has dropped significantly for that reason.

CICS-BPP

The CICS-BPP, application was implemented into production on April 30, 2001, The CICS-BPP sub-system supports the Budget and Payroll Processing (BPP) application.
