Background information on the FAMIS restart
During the morning on Monday, January 23, the FAMIS support staff informed ITIM that the FAMIS application did not appear to be performing as it normally would. Investigation by ITIM indicated that the FAMIS application was the only one experiencing response time delays. While all other online systems (including test and training) had an average response time in the .1 to .5 second range, the FAMIS application had over 1 second average response time. Investigation by the Systems group did not identify any specific problem.
The Systems group indicated they were going to change the size of a buffer during the noon hour. The FAMIS application was removed from production at about 12:35 p.m. and returned to operation by about 12:38 p.m. As of 2:00 p.m., average response time has not exceeded .5 second for the FAMIS application.
